Aleksandre Topuria: 'I want to keep living this life' after UFC Qatar
Following his victory over Bekzat Almakhan at UFC Fight Night 265, Aleksandre Topuria shared his thoughts with the media.
Topuria, with an impressive 7-1 MMA and 2-0 UFC record, secured a unanimous decision win over Almakhan (12-3 MMA, 1-2 UFC) at the ABHA Arena in Doha, Qatar. The judges awarded him two 30-27 scores, marking his successful debut for the promotion in Qatar.
In an interview with UFC.com, Topuria attributed his success to self-belief and a strong support team. He stated, 'There are no secrets. I just believe in myself and have a great team on my back. When you have that combination and work hard, I'm a guy who has some ambition. The ambition is not the fame, not to be recognized, but to put myself in these difficult moments and have these feelings (of victory).'
As the brother of UFC lightweight champion and former featherweight titleholder Ilia Topuria, Aleksandre Topuria expressed his growing comfort in the UFC arena. He shared his aspirations to climb the ranks and emphasized the importance of pursuing dreams with the support of teammates. Topuria said, 'Today is one of those days I understand that it's very important to keep going toward your dreams – with the dreams of your (teammates) to work hard together. Every time, I learn you have to surround yourself with your close people who wish you the best, and you wish them the best. I want to keep living this life.'
