The Indiana Pacers are desperate to turn their season around! After a dismal four-game losing streak, they're seeking redemption against the formidable New York Knicks.
But can they pull off an upset?
The Pacers (13-40, 15th in the East) are in a tough spot, facing a Knicks team that's dominating the Eastern Conference with a 34-19 record. Indiana's defense has been struggling, conceding 118.5 points per game, while their offense hasn't been able to keep up, scoring 7.9 points less than their opponents on average.
New York, on the other hand, is a force to be reckoned with. Led by Karl-Anthony Towns' impressive 11.9 rebounds per game, they're second in the East for rebounding. The Knicks are also scoring 117.3 points per game, just 1.2 points shy of what the Pacers allow.
And here's where it gets interesting: In their previous encounter on December 19th, the Knicks narrowly escaped with a 114-113 victory thanks to Jalen Brunson's 25 points. Andrew Nembhard gave the Pacers hope with 31 points, but it wasn't enough.
Mikal Bridges has been a standout for New York, contributing 15.7 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. Pascal Siakam is the Pacers' top performer, averaging 23.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 3.9 assists.
Recent Form: The Knicks have won nine of their last ten games, showcasing a well-rounded game with 115 points, 47.5 rebounds, and 27.7 assists per game. The Pacers, however, have struggled, winning only three of their last ten, despite putting up a good fight with 112.2 points and 42.3 rebounds per game.
Injuries might play a factor, with the Knicks missing OG Anunoby and Miles McBride, while the Pacers have a longer list including Obi Toppin, Ivica Zubac, and Tyrese Haliburton.
