Get ready, DC fans! Jason Momoa, after his epic run as Aquaman, is trading his trident for a wicked axe as Lobo in the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. This is a huge shift, and the first look at his weapon has just dropped, promising a comic-accurate adaptation!
DC Studios is building anticipation for the film, and their recent presence at the CCXP convention in Brazil gave us a sneak peek at Lobo's weapon. It appears Momoa will wield the iconic hooked axe, a key part of Lobo's signature look from the comics. This axe, known for its large, curved blade and dangling chain, is instantly recognizable to comic book fans. The initial reveal hints that the live-action version will stay true to this design.
But here's where it gets interesting... While Lobo's appearance is generating excitement, he won't be the main villain. Instead, Matthias Schoenaerts is set to play Krem of the Yellow Hills, who is rumored to be the primary antagonist. Lobo will serve as an additional villain. Given Jason Momoa's star power, could this mean Lobo will have a larger role in the future of the DC universe?
In the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic, which heavily influences the film, Lobo isn't actually a part of the story. However, the narrative's direction leaves plenty of room for him to make an appearance. The film will follow Kara Zor-El on a galaxy-spanning revenge mission, starring Milly Alcock in the title role. The cast also includes Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, and Emily Beecham. Alcock's debut as Supergirl was already established in James Gunn's Superman.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is set to premiere on June 26, 2026, as part of DCU's Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
