Liza Marcos: Teaching Future Lawyers, Not theatrics
In a recent social media post, First Lady Louise "Liza" Araneta-Marcos addressed the allegations made by former Ako Bicol party-list representative Zaldy Co, who accused her of being involved in agricultural importation rackets. Instead of engaging in theatrics, Araneta-Marcos emphasized her commitment to teaching future lawyers about the law and truth.
"While some may choose theatrics, I'd rather focus on teaching future lawyers how the law truly works—where truth is the standard and proof is the language we live by," she stated. Araneta-Marcos, a law professor, expressed pride in her students' dedication and curiosity, even amidst challenges like storms, earthquakes, and bogus bomb threats in Iloilo City.
Since 2022, the First Lady has been associated with the law faculty of West Visayas State University in Iloilo City. Her teaching experience extends to five other law schools since 1996. Araneta-Marcos wished her students success in their final exams, highlighting their preparedness and eagerness to engage with legal topics.
Co's accusations against Araneta-Marcos included alleged interference in congressional inquiries into rising onion and rice prices, aimed at protecting the interests of the First Lady and her brother in the industry. In a video message released on Wednesday, Co further alleged that Araneta-Marcos and her brother, Martin Araneta, were profiting from agricultural imports.
As of the time of writing, Malacañang has not responded to Co's latest allegations. The situation remains under scrutiny, with the potential for further developments and responses from both parties.
