"The White Sox, with no interest in trading Teel, have shut down every inquiry," the report states. They're holding onto their athletic, left-handed-hitting catcher who excels at controlling the strike zone and has impressive speed.
This isn't exactly shocking news. Teel is considered one of baseball's most promising players, and he's seen as a cornerstone for Chicago's future. Drafted in the first round in 2023, the 23-year-old catcher just wrapped up an outstanding rookie season. He batted .273/.375/.411, hitting 8 home runs, driving in 35 runs, and achieving a 1.9 WAR in 78 games. His performance closely mirrored that of Roman Anthony.
Teel is shaping up to be a future All-Star, and the White Sox are clearly committed to building around him. It would be a head-scratcher for them to trade him away after such a successful first season.
